《A Dancer’s Odyssey》

A Dancer’s Odyssey is a live performance in which seven dancers of diverse backgrounds from Southern Taiwan share their personal histories, through both movement and conversation on stage, in real-time. Directed by German choreographer Jan MÖLLMER, the dancers seek to create a platform that blurs the boundaries between on-stage and off, and performer and audience member. The work asks: Why does someone become a dancer? Who and what are they dancing for? What is the dancer’s relationship to time, work, space, and society? How can a dancer genuinely communicate this to an audience? With these questions in mind, the performers invite the audience to engage in a dialogue, which becomes part of the event. By offering a glimpse of the inner world of the dancer, this work seeks to establish a unique, closer connection between outside observer and the profession.
