《Ban-ping Shan》

In Ban-ping Shan, co-written with visual artist Jocelyn COTTENCIN, LIN I-fang highlights a moving landscape with writing that opens up and frees itself. The device populates the space and brings out figures, stories with imaginations. Ban-ping Shan sweeps away a form of nostalgia. It is energetic, dreamlike, shamanic and combative. The piece clears the ground in a certain way, is a kind of portrait at the moment.

LIN’s choreography and COTTENCIN’s on-site visuals express blindness and brilliance; appearance and disappearance; amazement and wonder, these various states of being and feeling. The flashes of brilliance snatched from memory, the moments of pure magic, are none other than the reinvention and reappropriation of figures or stories that are sometimes abstract and sometimes charged with affect. Through ephemeral forms, this piece moves between performance and choreography, installation and dance, letting ghostly movements emerge that are summoned to the present.

The stage becomes this landscape where each protagonist (music, light, body) is independent but dialogues through friction and collision. Sublime panoramas are lost in the mists of the stage, a visual afterglow, a sound universe makes the silence vibrate.
