“Beings,” first performed in 2020, explores human relationships, time, the world of objects, and the quest to learn about our true selves. Will we ever understand “Being”? Can we uncover truth while navigating human relationships, with their ambiguities? Questions such as these fuel this performance. Visually, this performance takes inspiration from Chinese calligraphy, namely the written character for person : 人 . Here, two simple strokes support one another. This image is brought to life by two intimately-connected performers, evoking ink drawn on rice paper.
Shimmering Production, founded in 2019, is devoted to making contemporary experimental dance works, as well as education through body movement and awareness workshops for the general public. The group’s works have been presented at the National Palace Museum, Cloud Gate Theater, and Taiwan’s National Theaters in Taichung and Kaohsiung.
