《BURNT [ the eternal long now]》
In BURNT [the eternal long now], LEEVAKULYA recreates the drained mental and physical state of a person coping with exhaustion and the emptiness of today’s world. A trio of dancers leads us through repeating cycles of separation and reunion between individuals and collectives, revealing states of intertwinement and fragmentation. Exploring body structure through refined movements, the dancers generate a hysterical energy that oscillates between the mechanical and the organic. This work seeks to boldly confront the concept of “burnout” by appropriating its associated negative mental and physical manifestations and transforming them into a new language for the body – one that bolsters and nurtures, and ultimately advocates for, collaboration and union.

LEEVAKULYA
As a creative unity, LEEVAKULYA, the Brussels-based artist duo, focuses on the process of making, questioning, in search of clarity and depth in performing arts since the premiere of their debut duo Together Alone in 2016. Their artistic works investigate time and human relationships in multi-dimensional spaces and settings, which include site-specific performance, video art, and installation. Drawing from rich and diverse experiences gained from their respective careers, LEE and VAKULYA approach their projects with unrelenting curiosity and dedication, as part of a larger quest to create a unique language of movement. The duo and their work are always evolving. Yet their constant focus remains on the delicate relations between human beings and society, the boundaries of vulnerability, and the limits of partnership and empathy.
