《Lingering》
Lingering (working title) is an offering to the victims who bravely risked migrating across the sea but never reached their dreamland. These lingering ghosts, rolling with the ocean currents, have stories that remain untold and unheard. By summoning the spiritual world, where performers embody these ghosts, Lingering unravels the island’s history, memory, and myth.
Devised from traditional arts in both Taiwan and Indonesia, creative artists deconstruct, rearrange then transform the existing music and dance to contemporary stage work. Featuring a trio of dancers and two musicians, Bare Feet Dance Theatre explores its new voice in Lingering as it is a contemporary experimentation bred from Asian heritage.

Bare Feet Dance Theatre
Founded in 2014, Bare Feet Dance Theatre is a contemporary dance group devoted to developing a new aesthetics of the body, in particular, one related to folk culture. The group devotes considerable time to field research with its ongoing “Body In The Field” project, for which members travel often and engage with a diverse range of communities. This fieldwork has included studies of Taiwanese folk rituals, religious ceremonies and traditional music, as well as the natural world and animism – all elements that have been incorporated into the group’s works. Since 2019, Bare Feet Dance Theatre has been included as part of the Taiwan Top program, overseen by the country’s National Culture and Arts Foundation.
