《Ponytail》
Ponytail recounts the experiences of an 18-year-old cheerleader with sexual harassment. Kuo Bo Dance Theatre artistic director SU Pin-wen employs feminism choreography to explore issues of body autonomy and gender narratives in the public sphere. Integrating recorded audio of basketball games and horse racing, this performance reflects on discourse on the body in sports, as well as female and women issues in Taiwanese society.

Kua Bo Dance Theatre
“Empowering everyone to dance” is a mantra of Kua Bo Dance Theatre of Chiayi, Taiwan. Founded and led by SU Pin-wen, who identifies as a feminism artist, Kua Bo got its start doing unconventional, environmental theater performances. Based in southern Taiwan, the group is committed to nurturing a contemporary dance culture and community beyond the traditional confines of the capital, Taipei. Its events have included residency workshops (A Dance A Day), exchanges (Dance South Taiwan-Spain) and the Let the Souls Dance Party. Kua Bo is currently a resident artist group at the Chiayi Performing Arts Center and is officially recognized as an Outstanding Performing Arts Organization in Chiayi County.
